Jahannam (hell-fire) consists of 7 gates, each leading to a level of Jahannam depending on what a person of the Hell-fire did in his life. This quick benefit will inform of the names of the 7 gates of Jahannam, and brief descriptions of them.
The main level of hell. In the Qurʾān:
"Those who remained behind rejoiced in their saying [at home] after [the departure of] the Messenger of Allāh and disliked to strive with their wealth and their lives in the cause of Allāh and saif 'Do not go forth in the heat'. Say: 'The fire of Jahannam is more intense in heat' — if they would but understand." (1)
In the Qurʾān:
"[Allāh will say], 'Seize him and shackle him. Then into Jaheem drive him.'" (2)
In the Qurʾān:
"And they will say, 'If only we had been listening or reasoning, we would not be among the companions of as-Sa'ir.'" (3)
In the Qurʾān:
"I will drive him into Saqar. And what can make you know what is Saqar? It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned]." (4)
In the Qurʾān:
"No! Indeed, it is al-Ladha. A remover of exteriors. It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience]" (5)
In the Qurʾān:
"No! He will surely be thrown in al-Hutama. And what can make you know what is al-Hutama? It is the fire of Allāh, [eternally fueled]," (6)
In the Qurʾān:
"The Hawiyah will embrace the person whose scales are light, His refuge will be an abyss, And what can make you know what al-Hawiyah is? It is a Fire, intensely hot." (7)
I ask Allāh to protect us from Jahannam, and make us all of the Muttaqūn of Jannat al-Firdous.
