Fasting the month of Ramaḍān with sincerity

Bismillāhir-Raḥmānir-Raḥīm

Alḥamdulillāh, given that Ramaḍān is right around the corner, it is important that we pay close attention to our sincerity towards our fasting. The fasting Muslim receives a great reward from Allāh (عز و جل) as He stated in a ḥadīth qudsī:

"Fasting is for me and I shall reward for it." (1)

It is incumbent upon the Muslim to make sure he fasts out of sincere faith and with the intention of hoping to obtain Allāh (عز و جل)'s reward, and not just because fasting is obligatory upon him. Similarily, he also shouldn't fast just to prevent criticism being made about him, and he shouldn't fast just to prevent it from being said that he is not fasting.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"Whoever fasts the month of Ramaḍān truthfully out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allāh's reward, all of his past sins will be forgiven." (2)

Additionally, Allāh (عز و جل) has designated a gate in Paradise specifically for the fasting Muslims, which is called the gate of al-Rayyān (3). May Allāh grant us Paradise.

And Allāh (ﷻ) knows best.

May Allāh bless you, and shukran.
